Education

The Danbury Cultural Commission connects with the local schools and groups in a variety of ways to make Arts and Culture accessible to students.

Through our grants process, we fund in-school events, sponsorships, and outside programs geared to expanding the participation of younger audiences.  These cultural events and projects include CT Ballet presentation to Danbury High School, Danbury Concert Association student tickets (free to students), Western CT Youth Orchestra, and Tia Candy Holiday Show. 

Working closely with the Danbury Schools, the Commission offers annual Scholarship awards to students continuing their studies in any discipline of the arts.

In addition, the Commission sponsors the annual Danbury High School Age Literary Awards. The Poetry Contest and the Short Story Contest each have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner categories.  Cash prizes may be awarded.

The Commission’s Architectural lecture series developed by and for presentation by a Commission member to the Danbury High School Architecture/Civil Engineering Academy.
